“Aftershocks” commemorates 10 years since the 4 September 2010 earthquake. This group exhibition has been motivated by the kindness of the people of Kyushu Island, Japan, who folded thousands of colourful cranes and strung them together to form senbazuru, which were then gifted to Christchurch in the wake of the earthquakes.

“Aftershocks” will explore love and beauty during the past shaky decade in our city as interpreted by artists including Valerie Campbell, Judy Rogers, Sandra Beltman, Sue Hely, Viv Nixon, Steven Sorer, Rae Manson and others. The senbazuru will be on display and individual cranes will be distributed to visitors to the gallery.

Opening Event: 5.30-7pm Friday 4 September 2020

Hosted by: Eastside Gallery at Linwood Arts, 388 Worcester St, Christchurch.
